PSU is not looking as formidable. Wisconsin defense was abused by the Spartans. Michigan still looks like they have some trouble with spread O's. Illinois could be an obstacle.

The bucks are thin at running back and Boeckman ain't Troy. They've got two more night games on the road against teams that could play with them, especially if there's another injury at RB. Still, I like their chances better than anyone else in the Big 10 because of the defense.

I believe we are (or will be) better than every team we play from here on out, save for the bowl game (potentially). That being said this is college football and one of the many beautiful things about it is the upsets.
If the kids stay focused on a weekly, or even play by play basis, and we stave off injuries we should be undefeated on the way to a bowl.

If we make it we'll earn it. I just took a look at the rest of the schedule and it is rough. We have to play the 6 best teams in the Big 10 in 7 games. I just hope we don't need another Holy Buckeye to win at Purdue this time. Despite the fact that Kent lost at Akron last week I think they are the best Ohio team that OSU will play this year so don't overlook them.

Byrum is a true freshman, he's from the state of Florida, he kicked the game winning field goal twice, and who knows what the Florida team/fans were saying to him before the kick(s). I guess that explains his actions. :p

Here's a thought/question: I'm watching the fourth quarter at Ralphie's last night and I was wondering why we don't use Boom. I mean, if he's all that and a bag of taco chips, he's not gonna stay four years anyway?? Maybe we need him??

And the other down side of red-shirting at a program like tOSU is that every year we're going to be bringing in more talent. Why assume that he will be out #1 or #2 in 2009 or 2010?

Use him now? or save him?

As for running the table OH Husker Fan, it's only Purdue right now.... but you're right, the Zooker scares me a little...

Every team on our schedule has a winning record right now. Let's just take it one game at a time.

-No matter which way you look at it, Purdue is 5-0 and is putting up an abundance of points.
-Kent State doesn't look that terrible this year. Their near collapse against Ohio University yesterday is not encouraging, but they seem like a possible trap game when looking forward to...
-Michigan State is looking very competitive this year. They battled back against Wisconsin and didn't collapse as they would have last year. They were knocking Donovan around all day, despite Wisconsin having possibly the biggest offensive line in college football. Their running game is solid. Hoyer is not making a ton of mistakes.
-While I do believe Penn State has been overrated all year, playing in Happy Valley is always tough. The solution to beating the Nittany Lions is simple: Get to Morelli and make him make mistakes.
-No matter what the situation has been, Wisconsin has always seemed to pull through since that Michigan game last season. They are playing some great Big Ten football, and their team toughness has prevented any possible collapse.
-Illinois has only lost to Missouri this year. They turned over the ball 5 times in that game, and yet they came back from 17 down to almost pull off the win (40-34 final score). The best way to beat Illinois is by forcing them to throw, as they are 6th in the nation in rushing yards per game. Zook's squad, however, is 103rd in the nation in passing yards per game. Illinois quarterbacks have combined for 7 interceptions. Their overall quarterback rating is 101.1. That is 6.3 below Notre Dame.
-Michigan is in shambles, and Jim Tressel owns him. That being said, its a rivalry game and Michigan will come out fired up.

Kent State is not a trap game in any real sense of the term, looking forward, sideways or backwards.
The Illinois passing statistic is interesting. Wonder what happens if the Defense takes away their running game?
