What type of gas mileage can you expect?
Almost everyone I know drives a SUV or truck and 15 mpg is average.
Now if you switched from a Camry or something similar you will definitely feel it. Enjoy the ride.:)

I filled up my car right before the first hurricane hit LA, filled it up again right before the second one, and helped out with gas on the way to Columbus this weekend. Other than that, I've pretty much stopped driving.

What do the points do for you?
The credit card I use gives me a 5% cash discount on gas.
Gas has not gone up here from the day before the hurricane hit. Now watch it go crazy. I have a 1 mile commute.:)

I'm fortunate that I have a very short commute and I average about 6,000 miles a year on my car. My commute is 1.5 miles one way and my wife's is 7 miles one way. In my case the gas prices have not impacted our purchases as we drive so little.

I read something this morning that retailers are not optimistic with this year's Christmas season as consumers will be spending less. It did not say so, but I have a feeling the increased gas prices have an influence on that projection. There was also an article on the CNN site about gas prices increasing credit card delinquencies. Unfortunately it is a scary cycle and the multiplier effect from increased oil prices is huge.
