There really isn't a reason not to apply to as many med schools as you can. You can have the perfect GPA and MCAT score and they still might not accept you for other reasons (tiny class size, quota's for in-state applicants, etc). I've heard of people with 3.8's and 35's on the MCAT getting deffered from tOSU, so a lot can happen. No point in limiting your chances from the get-go by applying to 3-5 schools. Having said that, the list will most likely get trimmed down a little though.

A dentist in michigan told me the OSU dentistry school has never accepted a student who did their undergrad at michigan. I asked him if michigan was the same way and he did not know.
