I need help with a college project

I am doing a study on the usage of instant messaging as a communication tool for my communication 650 class at tOSU. If you could take 10-15 minutes to fill it out, I would greatly appriciate it. It would be a better project to analyze the difference in IM use by age category... but IMO if you don't include 10-18 year olds... you're missing THE MOST CRITICAL mass of users for the IM feature...

I never use IM.. so it's a bust for me to respond...
However my teenage son can magically keep 12 IMs going at the same time as "homework" !?!?

BTW I venture to say.. IM's are also being 'replaced' by cell phone text messaging... so that could be another angle to this topic... text messaging use

This is funny.

I thought I was one of the few that does not IM. The rest of my office does it constantly.

With email, the phone and BP my brain could not handle any other communication process.

The only people I IM are my fiance, my mom, and a coworker. My office will not allow any IM software on our computers, but I can still use Google Chat through Gmail.

The first time I IMed my mom she thought it was the neatest thing EVER.

I don't use AIM at home but at work we use it constantly. I am curious to know what businesses promote use of AIM and which don't.
