  • So here I am, driving towards Dayton on I-70 - I have to get something done at work and then I get to turn around and go back home....

I'm driving towards I-675 and it's practically a whiteout. I'm slowing down, but before it went into a whiteout, there wasn't anyone in front of me.

You can imagine my surprise when fully 50 yards in front of me, an 18 wheeler just shows up. I never really saw him and I honestly saw the top of his trailer before I saw his hazards.

So I'm doing about 50-ish, but he's doing about 20. still I had 50 yards to play with. Unfortunately, the road, which looked clear, was a sheet of ice. I locked all four of my wheels up and I hit him at about 45 MPH. There was a car behind me, but I don't know how he missed this wreck.

Thankfully my car slid STRAIGHT for the 50 yards and thankfully he had his ICC bar so I didn't go under the trailer.

    Thankfully no one was hurt.

    I hate snow.

Were you one of the two wrecks down by Dayton? We looked on I-75 in Troy, and it was backed up big time! It took us an hour to get home from Troy to Piqua. Its nasty outside!

Nah I was east of Dayton...

by were OH-4 comes into I-70 heading west

    Glad you're OK.

My mom just called to ask if I was in Dayton today (I'm not), and she mentioned that I-70 was backed up from Old Troy Pike all the way to Springfield. I remember times back when I lived in Huber and worked in Springfield that it'd take 3-1/2 hours to get home when it snowed.

Thankfully I didn't go up to Wright State today. I'm glad I'm not out in that mess. I enjoy the snow, but I don't like contending with other drivers.

You know where it was at then....

my car came to a stop about 200-300 meters or so past where 4 fully merges into I-70....

In that 3 mile strip there, I saw 8 different accidents counting mine...

Even the State Troopers got nailed on one of them.....

Maybe you should stop typing on BP while driving in the snow....:wink2:

Just kidding- glad you're allright. Snowy highways can really be a bitch.

I wish that was the excuse... :wink2:

the worst part is I was doing my best to be fully aware of what was going on around me. I hate it when something happens and I couldn't have done anything to avoid the incident.
