I've had alligator, and I thought it was pretty good. Alligator stew and fried alligator.

My grandmother used to make turtle soup all of the time when I was a kid. It is actually quite delicious. Basically substitute the beef in vegetable soup with turtle meat, dump in at least a cup of red wine at the beginning, let it cook for a day, and you have some of the best soup you will ever taste.
