I just do not understand our offensive play calling. It is not that hard to see why we lost the last 2 NC games and why USC thumped us. After the USC game, even their players said the Buckeyes didn;t do anything they were not expecting.
run, run , pass
run run pass
every series, no matter what.
When you play against a top team with a good coach, they may as well be in our huddle, they know what we are going to do.
Pryor has shown he has good judgment. How about throwing some quick slants on 1st or 2nd down, some screen passes, down and outs..instead, we wait until it is 3rd and 10 and hope Pryor makes a great play(which he does).
All the good teams do is start stacking the line on 1st and 2nd down, then blitz on 3rd - I could be a defensive coordinator against the Buckeyes.
Yes, you can count on Pryor doing something amazing, but just imagine what he could do, imagine what Beanie could do if we actually had a little variety in our play calling.
Imagine being Beanie, knowing every play you are going to be running against a run defense. Just think what he could do if a defense had to actually defend a pass play on 1st or 2nd down....
sorry, just venting. Tressel did not get to where he is by not knowing what is going on, but it gets frustrating when I am sitting here knowing what plays we are going to run every series.
If we play USC again in the Rose Bowl, I just hope they don;t say "nothing they did surprised us" again...
