HS coaches to be punished for lopsided victories?

I think I'll tell my girls to strike out intentionally tonight if we build a 9 run lead. I'll bet I'm the next thing hit with a bat...by a father.

I know I was talking to one of the softball players at the school. She said they had something like a 20 run lead in the 3rd or 4th and they were told by the coaches to step off the base and take the out to get the game over with and not score anymore.

Do you think that was right?

First, I'm surprised there's no "slaughter rule."

Second, I don't think the coaches are right to tell the players to purposely do things to help the other team. Slacking off when you've got the 20-run lead will open the excuses for why you gave up the 20-run lead and lost the game.

I hear they are considering a similar rule to this in Ohio. It will be call the TST Rule. When one team is up by 50 or more they have to put in their player that most resembles Teddy Swim Team.

There is a "slaughter rule" 10 run, 5th inning

I agree it may have not been a good decision, but the team they were facing was horrible.
