HS Coach caught moving line marker

Bucktastic

Troy Smith for HEISMAN
Searched, didnt find this posted yet. Pretty funny stuff.

The football game is on the line, so the assistant coach moves the first down marker to help the team and it's all caught on tape. Jaime Garza of CBS stations KCBS/KCAL reports.

About the same thing happened to my school this year too. Except it wasn't a coach that did it...it was the refs. It was the first round playoff game between Canfield-Beechcroft. The game was played in Canfield. Heres what happened...

We ran a fake punt on about 4th and 12 to go. The first down marker and chain was at the 41 yard line. We got it, they spotted the ball right on the marker(The ball was at the middle of the field). I even kneeled down to get a better look and the ball was lined right up with the center of the chain marker(First Down). They brung the chains out and "somehow" when the chains were brung out and they stretched them out, the first down chain set on the 41 and 1/2 yard line. First Down for Canfield, not for us.

And why in the world was a coach on the chain crew?

They usually get people out of the crowd or something to do those in high school games.

Good god! Are you still whining about this? They beat you 28-0, buddy. Get the hell over it. Continually whining about the referees is old. It was old the first time you did it. It will be old the next time you do it. Jeebus!

And the word is "brought", not "brung."

The coach wasn't on the chain crew moron... the linesman was running onto the field with the spot and he moved it. Watch it again and have some rubies for a snack while you're doing it.

Then why was the coach holding the marker for? Or a better question, who was holding the marker?

The chain crew stays on the sidelines until the ref tells them to come out for a measure or to move the chains for a first down.

Huh? I have never seen that....maybe in peewee or something must a D-1 game would not pull random people out of the crowd to run the chains

Actually in Ohio(and probably most states) they don't hire chain crews. It is the home school's responsibilty to form a crew. If they have to pull people out of the crowd, then that is what they have to do.

As for you, we had a great drive going. A game changing drive that could have out us back in it if we had scored and made it 14-7. There was other 2 other plays that were touchdowns. One were our guy was in the endzone and scored, but also fumbled in the the endzone and they said he didn't get in(Canfield got the ball at the one). And the second should've been td was when our guy dove into the endzone, was in bounds and hit the plyon with the ball. The ref marked him at the 2 yard line and we threw an INT.

So yes the bad calls did change the out come of the game.

But congrats to Canfield, they still beat 3 other teams in the playoffs and are now in the State Championship game.
