How would you rank these five Ohio State teams that had only one loss one through five?

1969 Ohio State 8-1 lost to Michigan
1996 Ohio State 11-1 lost to Michigan
1998 Ohio State 11-1 lost to Michigan State
2015 Ohio State 12-1 lost to Michigan State
2019 Ohio State 14-1 lost to Clemson

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

If this is comparing these teams by magically playing them on the field, I don't see how 1969 competes. The 1969 starting offensive line averaged 5'7" and 180 pounds. Okay - I made that up. But It's still true.

The only way 2015 is losing to anyone is if they refuse to hand Zeke the ball.

I'm going 2015 > 2019 > 1999 > 1996 > 1969.

Edit: 2015 > 2019 > 1998 > 1996 > 1969

I mean technically, 1999* should be last since they went 6-6 and whatnot

1998
2015
2019
1969
1996

I think as we move further away from 1998, they are becoming a bit underrated given the talent on that team. They'd be a CFP contender right now, nearly 30 years later.

How much do you punish a clearly superior team talent-wise compared to its era and contemporaries? 1969 shouldn't have been challenged, but wilted against TCUN. Same in some ways with 1996....probably the 2nd most talented team since 1969 (not including 1998 since it hadn't happened yet), but again, they wilted against TCUN. Both 1996 and 1969 share similarities in their loss to TCUN as well - all of the scoring was in the 1st half, and being shut out complete in the 2nd half.

Nice list. I know what the poster here is asking for, I'm not going to respond only because the only two teams on the list that were the best in CFB in those years were 1969 and 1998. How the Buckeyes put together the teams that they did in 1969, 1970, 1973, 1974, and 1975 and came away with Zero National Championships is simply mind boggling. In a really bad way that still tastes bitter to this day. And anyone here that wants to actually recognize the 1970 team as a National Champion as awarded by The National Football Foundation should go happily polish up their Participation Trophies they "won" in Pee-Wee football.
