How to/not to treat customers

How not to:
I have a credit card through Bank of America. I made a payment on 5/4 and was shocked to find that they charged me a late payment fee for the statement ending on 5/24. It seems to me that I should be able to make a payment anywhere inside the 4/24-5/24 period, but their customers service rep informed me that I made my payment one day early and there was nothing that he could do about the charge. I have actually forgot to pay a different card before and had them remove the late payment fee when I asked. Needless to say I am pretty pissed that BoA won't budge on this even after I threatened to close my account and get another card somewhere else. So fuck them I'll get a new card and never have anything to do with BoA again.

How to:
I went to Chipotle for dinner yesterday. They had a newbie working that was having issues wrapping the burrito. He accidentally dumped out half my steak and eventually wrapped it so that the thing would fall apart as soon as I opened it. I nicely asked if it could be rewrapped so that I wouldn't make a mess when I ate it. The girl that was working opened it up replaced the lost meat and tried to wrap it again with no luck. She then wrapped the whole mess in another shell. When I went to pay for the burrito the manager that was standing by the checkout told me that I didn't have to pay. Talk about goodwill toward a company.

I ate at Chipotle yesterday. I wish they would have screwed up my burrito, I had to pay for it.

Wasn't there a due date on your credit card bill?

BoA might change their tune when you actually close the account...when I opened my Capital One account and transferred my old balance, Citibank called and dropped their rates beneath the Capital One rates (which are damn low). I had them send it to me in writing that the rates were locked....

Haven't strayed since...

I would've let you have the burrito for free too out of fear that you might eat me also

What's up with everyone eating Chipotle yesterday? I had it for dinner too
I noticed that SIMV and Exhawg both posted on the 'Weight loss' thread, but didn't state a numerical goal. Does Chipotle make it too tough to lose wieght?

The due date was on 5/24, which is why I thought I would be ok paying on the 4th. Now I find that my window is only between the 5th and the 24th. I just called them again and they said they will remove the fee. I was ready to cancel it if they said no this time. I have the Chase application sitting next to me. I might still switch anyway after the fee comes off, but I hear it's good for your credit rating to keep the cards that you've had for a long time.

I don't have a set goal. In a perfect world I could drop 80-100 lbs and be 4% body fat. I'd be happy to get down to 240-250. It took LloydSev type depression to get me to go on a big diet before I started dating my gf. I went from 285 to 235 in 3 months. To answer your question Chipotle probably doesn't help, but I don't get sour cream or cheese on mine so it can't be too bad for me except for the large quantity.

I wouldn't worry about that... Plus... you don't have to transfer all of the balance... actually... you don't even have to close the account if you do... but there is very little point in paying more interest than you have to... AND... they (BofA) isn't making a dime off you if the balance is zero... unless you're paying an annual fee... in which case I'd close the thing anyway.

I recently went to a bachelor party here in Atlanta. The best man had arranged for dinner at the restaurant at the downtown Hyatt and gotten us a deal on rooms so that we wouldn't have to drive home after frequenting, um, how shall we say?, the establishments for which The ATL has become well known. I thought that rather than calling, I would stop by the hotel on my way home from work to make my reservation. I told the guy at the desk that I understood that he had an $80 rate under my buddy's name for the following night. He said that I needed a coupon to get it. I said that I would have the coupon when I checked in. He said that I would have to call a Hyatt reservation number to make the reservation. I said, "Ok, call it". He said, "We can't make a call from here". I said, "You mean from your reservation desk?". He said, "Yes, do you have a cell phone?". I said, "Are you telling me that I have to stand here at the Hyatt reservation desk and call Hyatt reservations on my cell phone to make a reservation to stay in this Hyatt?". He said, "Yes". I said, "Is there not a house phone here somewhere in the Hyatt from which I can dial Hyatt?". He then gave me an exasperated look, dialed the number and handed me the receiver. WTF, if it was that easy to do in the first place, why be a prick about it?

Customer service, which should be a given no matter where you go, is virtually non-existent these days. It is a rare treat to deal with someone who treats you well, does what they're supposed to do, and is in a good mood.

A few weeks ago my wife went to Home Depot (while I was at work) with our baby in tow, to get several bags of mulch. She stopped by the service desk to ask if someone could help her get them and take them to her car because she A) had the baby there, and B) was not supposed to be lifting much due to the delivery. (The plan was that I would deal with them at home, in case you're wondering what she was doing with the mulch....)

Anyway, once the service clerk got off the phone chatting with a friend, she said that she would try to find someone. After a while my wife got tired of waiting and asked an employee if he would help her. He grumbled at her and said "Oh, you're the lady with the kid?", and asked her why she needed help. She explained it to him and he grumbled a bit more and then told her it would be a few minutes, but she could do it faster herself. Finally, she found another employee who actually helped her.

Unbe-fucking-lievable. I felt like going back and ripping this prick a new one for the way he treated my wife, but decided against it. A phone call to tell the manager got absolutely nowhere- he was even somewhat reluctant to apologize. I told him that Lowe's is about the same distance from my house as Home Depot, in the other direction, and that he was about to lose a customer. That didn't seem to phaze him, so I told him that he was a shitty manager and that I would not come back. Plus, I'd tell everyone I know not to go back.

I've had nothing but negative experiences with Home Depot as well.....the rule of ten is in effect....

Oh, and did I tell anyone that Lingo has horrible customer service?

The older I get, the more and more I choose to spend my money (even if it is 10% more) in a family owned place where they actually care.....

Same here. We go to several local / mom and pop type places around here. Hell... at few restaurants they even know us by name. Once we find a good place we 'll always go there. I've never had any major problems with Home Depot but 9 out of 10 times you will get better information at a local hardware store... there just aren't many of those left.
