How the coaches voted...

You do realize that SID's, Grad assistants and sometimes the coaches secretaries are doing the voting, not the coaches.

And I think that is a big problem with some of this. I know that a coach doesn't have the time to look at every game every week because he has to prepare for his own games. But if I was a D-I coach and had someone else doing the voting I would still at least look at the poll before it was turned in since it is my name on it.

Not trying to call you out here, just using your statement as a talking point.

It drives me insane that people think that Mack Brown is some underhanded, Power hungry, conniving person. I guess it comes from the pleading with the voters last year, but he has said all year that he was voting USC #1 until they lost. Last year he voted us as #4. Yet I still hear all the time about how Mack is voting this way, or Mack is a lier and so on and so forth. Just had to get that off my chest. I feel better.

Yeah well screw you you frigging Texas apologist crybaby

OK, JUST KIDDING. But seriously HL, I think you are reading wayyy to much into this. It also strikes me as surprising that an undefeated coach wouldn't have his team #1...no matter what the circumstances...but that's all. Nothing about Mack Brown personally. I think at least most Ohio State people respect MB a lot more after the game between our schools...not only that he won it, but his comments before and after the game, etc. I know if we were undefeated, I would think that JT might vote us #1...USC or not.

Now OU fans I can't speak for, but...

Your probably right. I don't let much get to me, but for whatever reason this is one issue that drives me insane

I am glad that they aren't releasing this info every week. It would be a complete disaster. I was watching sportcenter on my lunch break and they broke down who all the coaches were voting for. It was ridiculous. I think it is hilarious that ESPN removed its name from the poll because the coaches wouldn't release their weekly rankings. They try to be all holier than thou but what they really wanted was to stir up controversy on a weekly basis.

Charlie has some interesting things to say about Spurrier's NFL adjustments.
Dont think Steve liked it much.
can't find the article you are referencing, but he needs to get a grip. SS could merely be taking into account the fact that you lost to a non-bowl team at home. Combine that without any great wins during the season, and I can see you slipping to #9, and #14 as a stretch. I would put ND at #7-9, but its not beyond the realm of logic to think they might be a little overrated.

As someone else noted Petey and JoePa were missing from that list. Below is Joe Pa's reason, although from adding up the scores, they simply arn't listing all the coaches because Nebraska has 2 votes but they're only showing one vote. So its a combination of not listing alll the coaches, plus Petey probably just didn't vote because it doesn't mater to his team and doing so would only credit 'locker room material'

"Paterno boycotted this year's USA Today poll. The Nittany Lions finished third in the coaches' vote -- all of which were listed in Monday's USA Today.
Paterno tried to vote for all three unbeatens last year -- USC, Oklahoma and Auburn -- and was told he couldn't.
"(Former Baylor coach and poll director) Grant Taeft called me up and said you have to pick one because you are going to screw up the computer," Paterno said. "I said, 'I don’t care about the computer.'''
Paterno has since stopped voting."
