How ridiculous are home prices in Southern Cal??? LOOK

MistriBuck

aka MartyrBuck
this is not a joke..........i don't know how the bangers afford it, but this just blows my mind........and this is really cheap, in San Diego County you pretty much can't touch ANYTHING for less than $500K, up North depending on the area it's like 25%-50% worse

I worked in bexley for awhile. That town is one of those towns where you truely have "the other side of the tracks" One second you are in a rich area where people have more money than they know what to do with and then boom your in the ghetto and thinking you might get shot

In UA there are 2,600 sq.ft. homes that have sold for more than $650,000.00

Housing prices are nuts... you can get a place in Muirfield (Dublin) that is on a green for the country club with around 2,800 sq ft with an ask of $330,000 (and it has been on the market for a while... my guess is it might sell for around $300k when the owners finally give up on their 330k number)... or for twice the price get the home in UA without the golf course next to your back yard...

location, location, location...

just to be clear the whole reason i posted this was because i'm pissed i can't afford a house in So.Cal, unless i want to move out to the middle of NOWHERE

anyway, the whole point was this is COMPTON, and an 1100 squ. ft. house..........as for the Bexley of So.Cal, I'm not from Columbus but I'm assuming this is the super rich area? here is a 2K squ. foot home in Del Mar and it's not near the beach..........you get a whopping .25 acres

Bought this brand new in December 1998 for $243,000 and it has now been appraised at around $400,000. 1150 SF, 3BR, 2B, 2-car garage. And it's not in the expensive part of the island, either.

Not sure how we went from Compton to San Diego, but I lived there and the prices are rediculous. La Jolla is the Bexley of San Diego County although some of the northern cities are pretty high priced as well. You cannot touch a house for under 7 figures in la jolla an that would be an old run-down place. Most families live in townhouses, condos or move out towards the desert where it is cheaper.

Unlike New York were the prices are also crazy, jobs in san diego do not pay that much. They might pay more than columbus, but it is not proportional to the cost of living. Not only is there high california taxes, but there is a 'sunshine tax' where salaries are just lower than comprable cities. That being said, I thought it was worth it and am trying to make it back after I finish grad school.

haha, that shack is probably about right in Monterey

Mili, that is pretty consistent with where I live in Temecula, something like that would be close in price, slightly cheaper..........in this area prices have literally tripled in the last 5-7 years, when i moved out here 5 years ago, i could have (and should have) bought a house for around $150K, now those same houses are going for $350-$400K..........there are no signs of it slowing down, with the constant influx and those selling their more expensive homes to move out to the cheaper areas and continually driving prices up
