How many Ohio teams do you think will make this years NCAA Basketball tournament?
Record/ RPI
Ohio State 18-4/ 7

Akron 19-5/ 70

UC 16-9/ 32

Miami (OH) 13-8/ 90

Dayton 12-13/ 178

Xavier 14-7/ 74

Ohio U 14-7/ 110

Bowling Green 9-15/ 235

Cleveland State 8-15/ 232

Kent State 17-7/ 94

Youngstown State 7-16/ 299

Toledo 13-9/ 167

Wright State 12-11/ 154

I personally am going with three in OSU, UC and Akron.

Here are my off the cuff guesses

Ohio State 18-4/ 7 (YES! A LOCK)

Akron 19-5/ 70 (yes, I think they win the MAC)

UC 16-9/ 32 (yes, an at large)

Miami (OH) 13-8/ 90 (no, unless they start playing like they did early and win the MAC tourney, but right now I see that being Akron)

Dayton 12-13/ 178 (Nope)

Xavier 14-7/ 74 (No, but there is an outside chance they win the A-10 tourney, cuz it's at Xavier...but that's still doubtful)

Ohio U 14-7/ 110 (nope)

Bowling Green 9-15/ 235 (no, haha)

Cleveland State 8-15/ 232 (no way)

Kent State 17-7/ 94 (no, 3rd best team in MAC IMO, so there's still a shot)

Youngstown State 7-16/ 299 (no way)

Toledo 13-9/ 167 (no, see Kent State)

Wright State 12-11/ 154 (no, it's been awhile for them)

So I say 3...(Ohio State, Akron, and Cincinnati) I'll say this. I feel that one of the MAC teams from Ohio will win that tourney (Kent, Miami, or Akron). And I think Cincy and Ohio State are in...so that's at least 3. Xavier is the wild card to make it 4. They could play really strong in their confrence tourney since it is at home. But I'd be very surprised if it's not 3.

With an RPI of 32 there is no way Cincinnati doesn't make it.

Bingo. How could they possibly be left out? They are 17-9 now with four games to go (tough games against Villanova, West Virginina, and at Seton Hall, but should at home win against Seton Hall). That would make them 18-12, and their RPI should actually improve by playing VU (#4 in polls) and WVU (#11 in polls).

You know, I have to say the analysis given here is comforting for any UC fans visiting the boards. Fact is the media down here (particularly the sport radio) was bludgeoning the point home that Cinci wouldn't make the cut. Doom and gloom and nothing Kennedy could do was good enough, lame duck coach, sky is falling, its over for UC Basketball. [sarcasm]Its all symptomatic of their two faces of Eve approach to handling UC post-Huggins in my view. [/sarcasm]

There has been a turn-around from the poor-boy reporting following the win over Syracuse - at least in the print media - we'll see if the radio hosts follow suit.

Bearcats can dance for joy
Win over Orange makes NCAA berth appear more likely
BY BILL KOCH | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Bring your chips and soda, Eric Hicks told his Cincinnati teammates at Wednesday morning's shoot-around. There was going to be a party at the Carrier Dome.
And what a party it was.
The Bearcats, seemingly on a path toward a berth in the National Invitation Tournament after seven losses in their last 10 games, pulled off a stunner Wednesday night, upsetting Syracuse 82-65 before 21,459 fans in the dome
OAS_AD('ArticleFlex_1'); The victory assured them of a spot in the 12-team Big East Tournament and rekindled their hopes of advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the 15th straight season. It also ended a six-game road losing streak since Armein Kirkland's season-ending injury Jan. 9.

i agree. syracuse a team that has been struggling badly all season. they really have not even threatened any quality competition.
That's a perfect description. Any quality team they play, they get their asses kicked. They have 16 wins, and they have played 14 terrible teams. The 2 teams they beat that weren't terrible were ND and Cinci, who aren't exactly good. Plus, if they played ND again ND would beat them by 10. Anybody who has a pulse has absolutely wiped the floor with them.

I'd really like to see the Zips make it to the Bid Dance, but they got absolutely drilled out at Nevada this weekend, which will not help their at-large status. I think they only get in if they win the MAC tourney, and frankly, I think Kent has a better shot to do so.
