How many of you are fans of the "merged" thread?

It definitely helps to remove the clutter when multiple threads of similar topics litter the first page. (I realize the first page is different depending on what you set it at) What about a thread with renewed interest? It's a bummer when someone goes through the archives to merge a current thread with an archived one just because the topic is similar. Oh well, I guess having the power to merge is a priviledge, might as well have fun with it!:)

Just because you edit a thread for the sole purpose of bumping it to the top of page one of bucknuts does not mean there is a renewed interest.

Sounds good. We wouldn't have to merge threads if people would do a search before posting or have a memory longer than 2 days.

I'll definitely vouch for the handiness of the merge...but the split feature is much more useful.

Minor thing that irks me about merged threads is the "You do not have permission ... to view" statement that the system brings up, instead of a pointer to the new thread.
