It’s hard to believe that the 2017 season will be Urban Meyer’s sixth as the Head Coach at Ohio State, isn’t it? At the conclusion of this season, Meyer will have spent as many seasons coaching the Buckeyes as he did in Gainesville at the University of Florida, which was his longest tenured job up to this point. But how long will he stay in Columbus?
On this episode of The Hangout in the Holyland, Matt Brown and Colton Denning discuss and debate how much longer Meyer will coach the Buckeyes, whether Columbus will be his last coaching stop, and if the NFL is a possibility. They also talk about hypothetical replacements, whether they need to have ties to the state of Ohio, and if the national recruiting brand that Meyer’s built can last through a coaching transition.
There’s actually a new head coach on campus to discuss—basketball’s Chris Holtmann— and the guys offer some opinions on the early returns on his hire, and the difference in his recruiting strategy compared to Thad Matta.
