How long of a federal jail term will Vick receive?

OK, folks have wanted to be able to bet on this, so here it is.

This bet is only for the current federal charges and any superseding versions of those charges. It does not include any possible charges brought by Virginia or any other states at a later date.

This bet will be determined whenever he is either sentenced at trial, or reaches a plea bargaining agreement that specifies a certain time behind bars.

Once the sentence is formally announced the vbet will be settled. If the sentence changes at a later date, that won't affect this bet - once settled, it's over.

NOTE - For purposes of this vBet, the jail time is the minimum time that he is slotted for in jail/prison. Reductions for good behavior are NOT factored in. Also, any time under house arrest is NOT counted as jail time.

So if he is sentenced to 2 to 5 years, but has a chance with good behavior or probation to get out after 16 months, that's considered 2 years for this bet.

If he gets 12 months in jail and 12 months with an ankle bracelet, and is then only allowed to be at home or at work (NFL games/meetings/practices), that is considered 1 year for purposes of this vBet.

I could be wrong, but I don't think there is "good time" or probation in federal cases.

I believe you are correct... at least as it pertains to jail time.

Its something like... if you get a 1 year sentence you serve 85 percent of it (or 8.5 months... not the same thing... but one or the other.)

I'm thinking Bill is saying if he gets a one year sentence and only serves 8.5 months... its a one year sentence.

Yep. The bet is based on the minimum jail time in the original sentence he receives. That may not equate to actual time served for a handful of reasons.

I hope there is no plea deal. I want a trial on Court TV, ESPN, CNN. I want maximum exposure and all the dirty details to emerge. I want this dirtbag to sit there and have the world hear about all the crap he was involved with. I want the punishment to include his complete explusion from the NFL forever. Now that I have given my wish list, I see a plea bargain where he will get a 2 year sentence, which equates to roughly 17 months.

The two have reportedly agreed to testify against Vick if the quarterback?s case goes to trial in November.
