How High Gas Prices to Make a Change

One habit that many have changed is where they get their gas - perhaps how carefully they watch the price at the pump.

I know that we have been using the dime savings per gallon program at Kroger (and $1 off for each $25 spent at Meijer) for some time now. Others have similar cost-cutting approaches of that nature I'm sure.

As for gas pump watching, well there are those sites which list all the prices (and the best in area) based on surfer input.

Use the bigger vehicle for longer trips - multiple passengers. Use the smaller more economical car for single trips - errands or groceries.

How high does gas have to get to make you change your habits?

I started combining short trips a couple summers ago when gas shot up.

Virtually none at this point. The only real change is that I signed up to get notified when gas prices are about to go up......

I drive with the A/C running and the windows down to help reduce global warming.

On really hot days I will drive around like that even if I don't need to go anywhere.

It may not be much, but if we all put our thinking caps on....

Already making a "change" of sorts. Before coming to Korea, I had a '04 Regal GS that got roughly 20 MPG city. I was plannin on buyin a new XTerra upon my return, but with gas prices the way they are...fuck that. I'm leaning towards either a VW Jetta or a Honda Civic now...both get around 30 MPG.

I have pretty much completely removed recreational driving, I used to love to take drives in the country to blow off steam after work. Now I just go home and kick the cat. We also take the wifes toyota everywhere instead of my truck. when I get a little closer to getting it paid for I will be looking for a little hooptie to drive everyday and just use the truck for truck stuff.
