Throughout the Ohio State football season, we will be asking and answering questions about the team, college football, and anything else on our collective minds of varying degrees of importance. Finally, after an odd Week 3 bye, we are back in a game week for Ohio State, but before we turn the page completely to Marshall, I am curious how you are feeling about having an open date in the third week of the season.
So, that is the first question in this week’s Buckeye fan survey. Then, as always during game weeks, I want to know what your margin of victory prediction is for Saturday’s matchup with the Thundering Herd.
So, scroll down to the survey questions below the article and make your picks. If you want to elaborate, or provide an alternative answer, feel free to do so in the comments at the bottom of the page.
I’m not gonna lie, it was a little weird to be sitting in front of the three TVs in my living room on Week 3 of the college football season, and none of them had an Ohio State football game on them all day. I know that because of the way the calendar falls and the playoff or whatever, everybody is getting two off weeks this year, and given the potential of a 16 or 17-game, I think that’s great. But I would much rather the first one be following the Oregon game and the second after Penn State or Purdue.
Nonetheless, I am glad that the early-season off-week is behind us. The Buckeyes have four games — including two pretty high-profile ones — over the next four weeks, then they get a more traditional bye week before ending the regular season with six straight games.
Let us know your general feelings on the weird Week 3 bye in the survey below.
Ohio State has won its first two games by an average score of 54-3. The Buckeyes are favored to beat Marshall by 38.5. The Thundering Herd lost to Virginia Tech — their only FBS opponent of the season — 31-14. The last time that these two teams played, OSU won 45-7 back in 2010.
The gold-standard college football analytics model SP+ predicts that Ohio State will win the game 45-4 (Two safeties? Come on, Bill.) I say all of this to give you as much context as you could possibly need as you make your winning-margin prediction in the survey just on the other side of this line. Choose wisely, my friends.
