Dick started the last four games of 2005 as a freshman,...Johnson started Arkansas' opener...and Nutt was quick to pull him against the Gamecocks.

Wow! Does Mike Myers recruit / hire for this team? That's some 'Austin Powers' quality material! :slappy:

Just in case you're not up to date.

1) Nutt pulled Johnson after he faltered

2) Nutt had inserted Johnson because Dick was unavailable after injuring back.

3) Dick became healthy, scraped off the rust (probably not too much fun), and became a viable option.

4) Nutt, who has a quick trigger, inserted Dick against the 'Cocks with the pressures of November in mind.

5) Dick got the job done.

Moral of the story: Trust Dick in tight situations.

Next time you are counting up the contributions to American football made by the so-called storied programs, don't forget this important contribution by Arkansas football to men and women everywhere.

Like I said, trust Dick in tight situations. Nutt did keep pulling Dick for that #5, which I think is a hell of a lot more respectable than pulling Dick for a #1 or #2. But then, I suppose it comes down to preferences and I don't want to impose my Midwestern values on a Southerner. It was clear to me that whenever he pulled Dick for the #5, Nutt got a score more quickly. But I still don't think Nutt has a BCS team.

At the end of the day, Nutt is going to have to decide when to insert or pull Dick and Dick is just going to have to be glad he's in there, make the best of the situation, and stand and deliver.

Just sayin'

Arkansas chancellor supports Nutt

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The tumult around the Arkansas football program has drawn the attention of the university's chancellor, who said Thursday he believes coach Houston Nutt should continue to lead the program.

Chancellor John A. White said it was unfortunate the Razorbacks football team "has been burdened by rampant speculation and sensationalist remarks" after its offensive coordinator quit and two star players asked for and received permission to transfer.

White's remarks came less than a week after longtime coach and athletic director Frank Broyles announced he would retire at the end of the year. Broyles recommended, and White agreed, that Nutt's contract should be extended through 2012.

*bump*

FYI, the Moore/Goode/Dick photo is a fark, as the lettering on the jerseys does not match, and those three players were not actually on the team at the same time.

This photo of West Virginia, however, is legit ...
