So they've got this Windows Live Hotmail "upgraded" version... I switch to it, and suddenly experience:
  • Messages that didn't go through but say they did
  • Messages that say they didn't go through, but actually went through a dozen or more times with only one "send" click
  • Many frozen pages
As a result, I switched back to the old version last week. Today, I have messages I sent TO MYSELF in February and March for storage in my inbox suddenly appearing in my junk mail folder. What???

Has anyone else's email account been similarly possessed?

I do have two Gmail accounts - one for Gspace data transfers and one for email, but it's been easier to stay with the address people know. It's definitely time to make Gmail the primary account. There are years' worth of contacts in Hotmail that wouldn't expect a change-of-address notice, but might need to reach me sometime, so I don't want to close it completely. Maybe I can leave a permanent forwarding order from Hotmail to Gmail... and hope the demons don't find the route...

I believe you can tell Hotmail to forward your email within Hotmail itself. I can get more specific instructions if you would like? You can also go into the Settings part of your Gmail and then into the Accounts Tab, go to Add Another Email Address and tell it that you want to add another email account to your Gmail and you will be able to SEND AS that email address as well. I just did that with mine the other day with my Hotmail account that I have. There is a way to POP other email accounts in Gmail as well, but so far I have not gotten Hotmail to work with that. It appears when they went to the LIVE they either changed or discontinued their POP Server name or port. If I find it, I will let you know.

Edit: OK, I may have lied about the forwarding option for Hotmail. It has been years since I used Hotmail routinely and I don't see that as being an option anymore. Apparently, as with all other MS systems, they don't want you using anything else. The other stuff about Gmail may help you out some and I will post it if I find anything different as far as pulling Hotmail email into Gmail. Sorry!

The POP Google is a good idea... didn't think about that, even though I have it set up for Outlook that way. I have a premium Hotmail account that allows POP access, but I had forgotten that Gmail should be able to get it. Bought the premium account for storage in the pre-Gmail era, and never bothered to unsubscribe when it renewed (same reason I still have a Rivals account).

Crud... my junk box is now full of messages from my inbox AND stuff I know I deleted long ago - ads for watches and medications and an announcement about a new site with membership discounted from the usual $77. This is beyond weird. It isn't every old message, either - just a few from random months, and now random years. What is going on???
