Hot Dogs: Boiled or grilled?

How do you like your hot dogs cooked?

I'd say grilled but never eat them that way: if I have the opportunity to grill up something why choose hot dogs?

That said, raw and cut-up-and-mixed-with-mac-and-cheese should be options.

I remember awhile back i was dating a girl from Toledo and we went to a Hot Dog placed called Tony Pacco's. Maybe the spelling is not right but they sure had a nice hot dog to eat. Is it still popular today or maybe out of business.

Tony Packo's Hungarian Hot Dogs. That place was put on the national map when Klinger mentioned it more than once on M*A*S*H (Jamie Farr is from Toledo, he sponsors an LPGA event each summer). Packo's has hot dog buns signed by celebrities in glass cases on their walls.

Good dogs, still in business. Packo's

I remember Dane Sanzenbacher mentioning them as a Toledo landmark, along with the Mudhens.

Great dogs, best when the house Dixieland band is playing "Back Home Again in Indiana," or "Ugly Child."

As for the survey, soon as the ice melts on the deck I'll be back to preferring grilled, but right now it's boil 'em.

Give me a footlong with Mustard, Chili & Cheese from Jolly's. It's a family owned chain here in Hamilton. They're former A&W Root Beer stands. The Root Beer is excellent and the foot longs are reminiscent of Skyline or Gold Star but better. (IMHO)

It's a seasonal thing as a old school drive in they're closed in the late fall through winter. (Although they open earlier and earlier every year)

If you are a fan of anything Chicago (especially hot dogs), I highly recommend Wholly Joe's on Polaris Pkwy just west of the mall. They serve Chicago hot dogs, Italian beef, and deep dish pizza. As someone who has lived in Chicago for a little while, I can say that they are legit.

I was getting ready to mention Packo's - glad someone else did. I always get me some Packo's when I'm back in Toledo - best chili dogs I've ever had...

Their 'Pickles and Peppers' kick ass as well - always keep a few jars in the pantry...
