Just a place to examine some bad officiating. Doesn't have to be big ten related.

I'll start with my favorite late hit, a "dead ball" penalty.

And, while I'm at it:

Look... if Pam Ward can see it's a completion... just sayin...

I haven't seen it yet, but apparently Washington had a TD taken away against ND that shouldn't have been.
I did a quick look for some vid, but couldn't find it. I do recall the play though. It looked to me on live action that Locker scored, but the goal line replay did not reveal if Locker crossed the plane because a ND player was in the line of sight, and thus you couldn't see if Locker did or did not. Of course, this is the same view the official who made the call had - that is - he couldn't see either.

It's ridiculous that the official right on top of the play, the Umpire in this situation, can't call the spot.

To the uneducated observer, it may appear that AJ Green has just scored an important touchdown late in a game against a highly rated opponent, and in honor of that undertaking he and his team mates enjoy a few moments of celebration together.

But, this is not so. Instead, AJ Green is clearly drawing attention to himself.

That's illegal, and draws the flag.

It was with 7:07 to go, before the two sets of 4-downs from the 1-yard line. It wasn't Locker, it was the RB Polk. The replay angles were not on the goal line, and Pat Haden (NBC ND analyst) thought it was a TD, and Tom Hammond (play-by-play) thought it was inconclusive (as did I), and would stay as a TD. After they changed it, Haden said "unbeliveable call - is that conclusive?" An XP would have made it a 9-point game.

Also, on ND's 2-point conversion, the guy's knee was down when the ball was still more than a foot from the goal line, as the guy was being pushed and pulled into the end zone. If they had reviewed that, they would have had to call him down, and then U-Dub's FG would have won the game, instead of tying it for OT. What sucks is that NBC controls which replays are shown, and how quickly they're shown, and it's in their interest to have ND win.

I think we're talking about two different plays then. I recall the one you're talking about as well and it's not the one I'm thinking of. The one I am talking about definitely included a goal line angle. Yours was the 1st of the GL stands, I think the one I'm talking about was the 2nd.

Not sure if I recall that one. I was switching back and forth with the LSU UGA game, and I think I missed that.

Youtube didn't miss it though:

What about this one-

TubeChop - Final play Notre Dame vs Washington 2009 (00:22)

As elsewheres noted-

The last play of the game should have been a double personal foul for leading with the helmet: The kid was unconscious before he hit the turf? watch his arms. If this type of thing warrants league suspension (and I think it should), then certain ?independent? teams should be held accountable by the NCAA.

Yeah, not going to happen.
Damn, that's brutal.

Washington is asking the the officiating be reviewed.

Hopefully USC will go into South Bend and give them a good smacking. My second favorite football team is whoever Notre Dame plays. My third favorite is whoever is playing tsun.
