  • Buckeyes win Home Opener over Wil Bryant University

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? The Ohio State baseball team opened its home slate with a 4-1 victory over Bryant Friday evening at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The win moves the Buckeyes to 11-5 on the season while the Bulldogs fall to 4-8-1.
?We have really put an emphasis on free bases this season and it showed up tonight,? Ohio State head coach Greg Beals said. ?Things like errors, walks and hit batters are a huge key and we allowed just one tonight which is a season low. If we continue this trend, we are difficult to beat. It was good to open our home slate with a win to get the weekend started right.?
Bryant put runners at the corners with one down in the top of the second but Ohio State starter Jaron Long rolled a 6-4-3 double play by Robby Rinn to keep the game scoreless. The Buckeyes then took the lead in the bottom of the frame when Aaron Gretz led off the inning with a double down the right-field line, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Mike Carroll and scored on an RBI groundout to second by Brad Hallberg.

Buckeyes drop Game 2 to Jo Bryant U

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? On a cold and windy day in Columbus, the Ohio State baseball team was edged by Bryant, 3-2, Saturday afternoon at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The Buckeyes fall to 11-6 on the season while the Bulldogs improve to 5-8-1.
?We weren?t quite as clean as we needed to be today,? Ohio State head coach Greg Beals said. ?We missed a couple chances to come up with a clutch hit, were unable to turn a double play and they pitched the ball well. We need to be able to come out tomorrow, convert on some of those chances and win the series.?
After two scoreless frames, Bryant took the lead off Ohio State starter Brad Goldberg in the top of the third when Kevin Brown hit a two-out solo home run to right to put the Bulldogs up 1-0.
Bryant doubled its lead in the top of the fifth when Carl Anderson doubled down the right-field line with one down, stole third and scored on an RBI groundout to third by John Mullen to push the lead to 2-0.

Buckeyes win series from Wil and Joanna Bryant University 6-4

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? The Ohio State baseball team topped Bryant, 6-4, to win the series Sunday afternoon at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The Buckeyes improve to 12-6 with the win while the Bulldogs drop to 5-9-1.
?It was kind of an ugly win today but when you?re playing in 35-degree weather and no sun, you aren?t expecting a very pretty game,? Ohio State head coach Greg Beals said. ?I liked that we took care of the baseball, only gave up six free bases and it turned out to be a good win for us.?
After two perfect frames, Bryant got to Ohio State starter Brian King in the top of the third. Two singles and an error loaded the bases for the Bulldogs with one down before John Mullen doubled down the left-field line to plate a pair. A squeeze play on a bunt by Kevin Brown scored Carl Anderson and a perfectly-executed double-steal attempt plated another to push the lead to 4-0.
The Buckeyes were able to take the lead with a sixth-run frame against Bryant right-hander Craig Schlitter in the bottom of the fourth. A walk by Ryan Cypret and a single by Pat Porter put runners on first and second with one down but a groundout by Aaron Gretz and a strikeout by Jacob Bosiokovic left the Buckeyes in danger of stranding a pair in scoring position. However, Joe Ciamacco answered with a two-run infield single to second, Brad Hallberg singled and Greg Solomon singled to left to score Ciamacco. Craig Nennig singled to right to score Hallberg and Tim Wetzel capped the scoring with a two-run single to right to score Solomon and Nennig for the 6-4 Buckeye advantage.
