Need some feedback on some Home Security companies...considering ADT and Brinks.

Neighborhood is good, home protection devices are here, but this is a debate I'm losing so I'm giving in...anyone use either of these companies or have experience with them?

That is already handled...not enough. She has had 2 incidents of home robbery in the last 3 years...the last time she walked in on them and luckily they only ran out the back door.

Dog is out of the question...can't keep it inside at all and I'm against keeping dogs outside 24/7 in this weather.

Your best bet would to be to talk to people in the area who have used one or the other (or preferably both).

Alarm companies like ADT & Brinks typically subcontract out to local companies. The local ADT rep in one area might be top notch while in another the subcontractor could be an incompetent mess.

Whichever you decide to use be sure to thoroughly read the contract (I know, obvious advice but still...). Security sales reps seem to be among the worst at promising the world without knowing exactly what it is they're selling.

home security

ADT is so old school. I got an InGrid system and it is much, much better-- cheaper to put sensors on all my doors and windows than ADT. More monitoring features like it sends text messages to my cell phone when the guy comes to walk my dog (doesn't call the cops for that). since it connects to my internet connection I always know its working. Dont get that from adt. InGrid is very cool

I have used both and found them to be comparable - overpriced. But it is really tough to compare because when they count is when the alarm goes in and that is seldom.

I did come home to a house surrounded by cops with drawn guns once with ADT. My cat did that.

It took me over 10 years to convince my wife that we could find better things to do with the money.

Take Thump's advice. The sign is all you need. Intruders look for the easiest targets. The sign tells them it isn't you.

I brought my sign with me when I moved. It looks great under the wild sunflowers outside! I can almost see it most days! :tongue2:
ADT I have used. Worked fine. Reasonable pricing. A good installer is worth his weight in beer! Don't be afraid to ask questions. But, thieves hate to hear dogs barking. Even a small dog(terrier) will alert you to something going on.
Never underestimate a terrier! Chances are if you buy a gun it will collect dust.

Scottish Terrier
West Highland White Terrier
Miniature Schnauzer

I use ADT at work, they have good response time, great service and when their techs come out they tend to be prompt and knowledgable. I have heard good things about their home security from friends/associates.
