Home Repairs/HoneyDo List/Advice & Tips/etc.

Okay, so I just purchased some laminate to replace the old hunter green carpeting in our bedrooms. Trying to figure out which way to lay the laminate. What do you think? The only difference is the SE bedroom. Not sure if it would be weird having 1 bedroom different from the other 2.

If you're not doing the common area between the bedrooms then I would do option 2, because it keeps the laminate direction consistent with window location. If you're doing the common area too, then I would go with option 1.

Generally you would go lengthwise of the room if the floor isn't connected to the other rooms. Less cuts/waste and makes the room 'look' bigger. But its your floor. Do it any way you think looks best.

This room's floor is about ready to go down. Got to let the flooring sit for one more day to get acclimated with the rooms climate. Kind of ticked. The carpet/pad was much thicker than this new flooring. I just took off, painted all the trim upstairs, and reinstalled the painted trim in the Spring.

Now it's either take it all back off, paint the walls further down, and reinstall trim ~ .5" lower. Or leave trim as is and add shoe moulding all the way around

I would try this approach first. Some quarter round should work. It would be the fastest way to fix it, and you won't risk damaging the walls taking the trim down again.

Yeah I just realized that. When I was just upstairs looking at the two options, I'm sure I put some dents/holes in the sheet rock behind the trim where it is now. If I move it down, I'm looking at a lot of patching, sanding, and painting.

Quarter round is the way we go
