Home repair question. Where to buy the other half of my closet door?

BuckStocksHere

Semper Fi!
I broke my closet door and need to get a new one. It's a wooden door, the kind that slides, so you can access the right part of the closet or move the other door to access the left. I still have the left side(or right - doesn't matter) and need to buy another door.

Question: where can I go to get a door that matches mine? Will I need to buy TWO new doors because it will be impossible to match up? Will I need to put lacquer or finisher or whatever on it because it will come w/o anything?

It wasn't a solid wood door, it was a cheap kind of door that was hollow and splintered when I hit it. It look like they just had this frame and attached two wood pieces to it to enclose it.

Anyone ever dealt with this type of situation - please help. Thanks.

Oh yeah - how much will a new door cost that I get at wherever...

I would take the door off and take it to Lowe's or Home Depot and have them take a look at it. You'll probably just want to get an entire new door.

That's my opinion, too. If you take it off and take it to Lowe's or Home Depot, and they can't help you match it, you're not any worse off, since you'd have to take the door off, anyway.

Or......throw out your Steeler-lovin' wife, rip off the half-door that isn't broken, and live the high-life until the divorce papers come through. :p

Yeah,

thanks for bring up the ol' hole in the wall episode - 21!! I'm starting to see a pattern here.

I think I actually am going to look into something to calm my "rage". It doesn't happen often but when it does, I get destructive.

Anyone have any good books on steps to take when getting pissed off? Not some goofy quack doctor telling me about how my mommy mentally abused me as a 2 year old...just some good things to try when mad. I don't think counting to 10 would help though..

I'm still looking into getting a heavy bag to beat up, so no more monetary damages take place in my house... that is just stupid and yes...I just called myself stupid.

BSH
:stupid:

anyway, thanks for the tips on taking the door w/ me.... Not sure I can fit it in the car, but since its almost smashed in half now after the hammer "incident"... I'll just take half it in... or a piece..doh.

Why don't you try not getting pissed off as easily? I hope it was something major that would make you punch a hole in your closet door. "What do you mean you ate the rest of the corn flakes?" [boom] <boom> Truthfully I don't have much of a temper so it's hard to relate to what you're going through. But that doesn't mean I can't make fun of you. :p
