Home and Away vs the SEC (merged)

muffler dragon

Bien. Bien chiludo.
Just wondering...

1) What's the soonest that we could schedule SEC games during the regular season?
2) Is there anything that a fanbase can do to help urge on the scheduling department?

Anyone else interested in seeing if we can schedule the SEC so that we have the opportunity to exorcise some recent demons?

Regular season isn't that much of a problem, it's Bowl games where we seem to be cursed.

Hasn't it been around 20 years since we played an SEC team during the regular season?

I'm sure you already knew this, but my train of thought is: SINCE most everyone considers the SEC the cat's meow; then why not go to the cat for some competition? I admire like hell that we're scheduling two PAC 10 teams in the upcoming years, along with VT and Miami. Just hoping for some regular season SEC action.

I think playing the tough OOC game early in the season is key.

Our upcoming games with USC and then Miami are great examples, as was the home-home with Texas. You can still get the national spotlight, measure yourself against a great team, and still be able to rebound in the NC game hunt even if you lose.

As history has shown, tOSU would have more than enough time to make up ground even if they lose in the 2nd or 3rd week. (Not that I'm saying we're going to lose)

Bring on USC, bring on the SEC, bring on anybody.

We definitely need to toughen up our out of conference schedule. I don't think it has to just be an SEC team, it could be WVA, Va Tech, Oklahoma, etc. I wouldn't even mind us playing 2 stronger out of conference teams a year. Lets cut the umbilical cord with the MAC.....

Some of the problems we face is the length of time it takes to get these schedules made and getting agreements for a reciprical game. Sometimes when you schedule a team they are tough as compared to when you play them, like with Washington this year.

you should probably check out the future schedules of OSU. We alreayd have home and homes against USC, Va Tech, OK, CAL and Miami.

For the record I think it would tough to get the SEC in a home and home since they never seem to leave the south.

Question: Does the State of Ohio get "involved" with OSU's sceduling? Just wondering, because that is part of the reason teams like UL-L, UL-M and La Tech now seem to be a staple of our schedule. The state got involved and "suggested" that we play the in-state schools to help increase revenue for those schools.

The Tulane thing was brought back for sorta the same reason (pre-Katrina), but mainly to try to revive a rivalry that has been dead for the better part of 2 decades, and on life-support for the better part of 4 decades.
