Hollywood Can't Get Anymore Dumber....Ace Ventura 3

I absolutely loved Ace Ventura: Pet Detective when it first came out. Everyone instantly saw what a huge star Jim Carrey was going to be emerging out of his "In Living Color" days. That film is still the quintessential Jim Carrey movie (not his BEST film... but the one that embodies his career).
Then came Ace Ventrua 2... and man it was horrible. It proved that some films and characters are great for 1 film... and then should be left alone. The whole Ace Ventura thing got really tired really fast.

Now the word is that they're actually considering making another Ace Ventura... this time it's Ace Ventura Jr. OH MY GOODNESS. Did Dumb and Dumberer not teach them anything?!?! The good folks over at MovieWeb give us this:

Morgan Creek has hired Jeff Sank and brothers Jason and Justin Heimberg to write a third installment of the hit Ace Ventura franchise. The latest pet project is expected to center on the eccentric detective's son, who steps into his father's shoes to take over the family business

This is a horrible idea. Can anyone say "Son of The Mask"?!?!

Let it go. Ace Ventura was a classic, but even Jim Carrey himself couldn't recapture the magic with that character. The character was a one shot wonder that should now be left alone, and it's sequel forgotten. My suggestion, take the paper that the Ace Venture 3 concept is written on, get 7 virgins to piss on it and have a witch doctor set it a blaze to send it to some netherworld where it will be trapped for all eternity. Then lets never speak of it again.

there are some sequals i do like. and even remakes. the charlie and the chocolate factory was very good. i liked how it had more detail of what happened. how he got oompa loompas. and other stuff. same with the longest yard. but there are some movies that just really suck. the fast and furious and 2 fast 2 furious were amazing. but tokyo drift i did not care for.

Well, they made sequels for "Legally Blonde", "Miss Congeniality" and "The Whole Nine Yards"...so there ya go. Seems to me any movie that is a "suprise" hit or makes over $100 is immediately lined up for a sequel. "Son of the Mask", "Dumb and Dumberer"? What the Fuck.

it will probably cost the studio around 20-25 million to make.... between the US market, overseas market, DVD rentals, sales and Pay Per View it will probably make a small profit.

Ace 1 is a classic, Ace 2 wasn't bad.... this will tank.

So far sequels to Jim Carrey movies without Jim Carrey have sucked.

1. Son of the Mask - you've gotta be kidding me. even the previews wanted to make me puke.

2. Dumb and Dumberer- it sucked. no way that those new kids could try to redo Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.

3. Evan Almighty- TBD (though it could be good simply because of the success of Steve Carrel and how funny he is).

and now Ace Ventura 3 (if it is made). What next, Liar Liar 2? The Cable Guy returns?
