I was over on a Texas site and look what I found:

It's pretty fucked up a barely ranked 4-loss(all to unranked teams) team can get a bid when a 1-loss(to the #1 ranked team) gets left out. Just tone it down with the insults please. Oregon is still a good team that had a great season.
your argument isn't with FSU or the BCS... 1 acc team would have gone either way. I realize it had an effect on the at large bids, but I think you get my point. I agree that CCG's are stupid, however they simply sent a less worthy team with the auto-bid, when a better system would have sent VT or Miami instead.

If Oregon wants to have a legitimate gripe, they have to schedule someone tougher in their OOC games. Fresno wasn't a cupcake, but still doesn't have the athletes that a top-flight school will have.

Oregon sometimes schedules someone tougher (04 OU, 03 UM)... and the pac-10 used to be better than it is now. Their 05 schedule left them with only one real statement game, and that one didn't go very well.

I disagree. I think the argument is with the BCS and the system that has automatic berths that disregard ranking in the BCS formula.

My issue isn't with this year's results, but with the overall results in which each year, a team that didn't win its conference gets passed over for a much lower rated team that did win its respective conference, i.e. FSU over Oregon this year, Pitt over Cal last year, whomever over Texas the year before that.

they did win their conference... you and I just hate the way that conference is won. The big ten does a better job picking a conference champ, which is why they are not used for ammo very often.

Your argument would have more strength if your team didn't just lose their bowl game to a 4 loss unranked team.

Yes but nobody knew they would before they played. When the BCS bowls were chosen Oregon was 10-1. I don't have as much of a problem with them going into the BCS as I do with people giving them so much shit about being overrated and they were cry babies. Very annoying and frustrating. Oregon>FSU and WV. Once again, college football desperately needs playoffs. It would have to be atleast an 8 team playoff though.

an 8 team playoff sort of makes sense, but it also allows more 2 & 3 loss teams to make it. I really think a 4-game playoff would work just fine, and would maintain more of the mystique of the other bowls (which sort of makes it feasible that they would try it... ha ha). Sure some would complain that were #5 looking in, but looking back at the BCS history it is usually 3 teams that have a legitimate argument about being in the title game.

Well look at it this way, with an 8 team playoff we would barely get in while a Notre Dame would be barely left out who can cause some problems. A lot of teams that are capable of knocking off the top dogs wouldn't get the chance. I think an 8 team playoff is perfect.

I realize that both FSU and Pitt officially won their conference. I guess I just don't necessarily understand the fairness of an automatic berth for a conference champion who would not otherwise be considered for a BCS berth.

he Big-12 is the 5th worst conference. Iowa St., Kansas, Kansas St., Texas A&M, Oklahoma St., Colorado, Baylor, Missouri, and Nebraska suck. Oklahoma and Texas Tech are average and Texas is great. The Pac-10 is way better than the Big-12
I don't see a lot of favorable matchups... definitely not way better by any stretch. I realize Oregon finished ahead of UCLA, but I think the two comparisons are better as listed. Also, most years OU is the comparison to USC, and Texas is a really tough #2 team.

Texas - USC
TxTech - UCLA
OU - Oregon
Nebraska - Cal
Colorado - Arizona State
Missouri - Stanford
Iowa State - Oregon State
aTm - Oregon State
Kansas - Arizona

Are you saying UCLA is better than Oregon? If you are then here are the scores of their two losses: 56-14 and 66-19. Or are you just saying which teams match up the best?
