History Channel: From Hitler to Hysteria

My wife and I still laugh at our brief stint watching this segment:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBtHICMmDJk"]YouTube- Life after people - (part 1/9)[/ame]

I'm not sure if that clip captures the unintentional humor - I'm certainly not suffering through it again - but they say ______ days/months/years AFTER PEOPLE... about 50 times. It's pretty humorous after awhile.

I think the "good stuff" may have gone to History International, though I must confess, the History channel is still one of my "go to" channels even if it's showing the kind of stuff people are complaining about here. It beats the shit out of "Who wants to be a douche bag" or whatever the hell the networks have on these days.

Definitely.

I still enjoy the History Channel, but it seems less about "history" with each passing day.

Yeah, it does, that's true.

Actually, National Geographic, Science, and the History channels are all more or less the same channel any more (fortunately for me, the conglomerate is one I like ) . History International might be up your alley for more real history stuff. Ancient discoveries is on at the moment. Pretty cool thing about ancient guns and ammo.

TLC and to a lesser extent Discovery are pretty worthless for my purposes now. Which sucks, cause TLC used to be cool. Every time I turn it on Disc. it's either Mythbusters or Man Against Wild. Both of which I like, but neither of which I can watch regularly.

Agreed. NG recently had a good series of documentaries on Oliver Cromwell. As I watched them I couldn't help but think why isn't this on the History Channel instead of Monster Quest?

For me, I wish they could have a "Cities of the Underworld" channel. I could watch that show forever and never get bored with it.

I imagine Tallahassee and Ann Arbor would be filled with a billion dung beetles and both places completely gone in a two days...

Have you seen the old episodes before the current dude was on the show? I didn't realize how much better he made it until I saw his predecessor. It was like Oprah doing a voice over on a nature show.

I missed the Cromwell doc-I would have liked to have seen that. NatGeo blows it's copetitors out of the water in both content and production,IMO. My favorite NatGeo is "Explorer" and "Lockdown".

The History of US series started last night. the first two hours were rebels and revolution. REALLY good I suggest people check it out, Sundays at 9 pm

Damn I really wanted to watch that, but I missed it.

Anybody watch PawnStars? The show is about a pawn shop in Vegas, they have all kinds of interesting/historical stuff come through there all the time. Last night some guy sold a Revolutionary War Bond sealed by Paul Revere for $15,000 plus a guitar. Modern Marvels is another show I really like on the History Channel, kinda glad they are starting a new season of it.

I watched that "America - the story of us" last night and it was entertaining. I also watch Pawn Stars every week and American Pickers is kind of gay, but I'll watch it if there's nothing else on.

Modern Marvels and Food Tech is good.

Ancient Aliens is kind of cool.

Monsterquest sucks in my opinion.

Discovery Channel also now sucks - used to be my favorite.

On another note - Wife Swap rules!
