Hilton Head Island/Charleston Areas

NJ-Buckeye said:
how many will be there? kids? want it quieter? livelier? on the ocean? on the sound?

and there's a huge difference between HH and Charleston !!!

That's what I was hoping. We wanted a little variety. Plus its on the way.

1 little one. age 2. He's a pretty durable traveler though (good guy- can pretty much take him anywhere).

Yeah- its going to be a rough week.....We are going to spend a couple days at hh, then a couple in/around Charleston, on our way to stay with some friends in Myrtle Beach for a week. We are just exploring places that we have never been before. Any input on anything would be appreciated. Thanks again for your help.

Charleston is great. You would probably want to stay in the historic district if possible. You may find someplace for less than $200 depending on what you need. If not you can look over the river in the Patriots Point area, or over near the hospital off the Ashley river. I know there is a nice Courtyard that is fairly inexpensive right across from the hospital that sits right on the Ashley river. It has a great pool area, and its only about a 2 minute drive into the historic district. Plan on doing a lot of walking, or definitely sign up for one of the Horse Drawn Carriage tours of the Historic District very informative and the kids will stay occupied. There is a lot to see there, and a lot you can learn. If you have the time, you can go over to Patriots Point and go up onto the USS Yorktown (aircraft carrier) and walk around, or take the tour. Or you can take a ferry (not Thump) out to Fort Sumpter for a tour which is pretty cool.

I'm sure there are Buckeye sportsbars there, alot of Bucks live down here. I believe someone from North Charleston is a member here, I can't recall who. I've heard great things about the aquarium, that should be nice. The new bridge is cool too.

Thanks for all of the input..... From what i've read here and elsewhere, I think we are going to spend a little more time there (Charleston) than originally planned.

Last night I went ahead and took the advice to book a place in the historical district. Looking forward to the trip

If any other thoughts pop up lemme know......

Thanks again
