Highest Scoring CFB Game?

Another interesting tidbit from that game: Georgia Tech's 220-0 victory came at a considerable cost. The star player of that game left the Georgia Tech team immediately afterwards. Chuck Norris told Coach Heisman that he enjoyed the quaint little sport, but felt that it was too repetitive and not physical enough to ever cause him to break a sweat.

Hmm.......this was a different view of it. I heard the NCAA banned him from ever playing again.

It is true that the NCAA banned him. However, that is not the reason he walked away from the game. He walked away for the reasons I stated. If the NCAA tried to keep him from doing something he wanted to do, they would not exist today.

Not to interrupt a perfectly good conversation about Chuck Norris, but I have a book entitled "College Football" that makes Jack Park's encyclopedia look like a pamphlet. It was published in the 70s and has a few pages worth of info about that GT-Cumberland game.

According to this book, practically the entire Cumberland team had the flu and were so sick that they would literally throw up on their hands while in a 3-point-stance.

As far as highest scoring games are concerned. You'd think that Arkansas' 71-63 win against Kentucky in 2003 would be up there in total points scored. Obviously not up there with GT-Cumberland, but top 5 at least.

Al Gore invented Chuck Norris jokes to pass the time.

Highest scoring game in bowl history is Marshall 64, East Carolina 61, 2 OTs in the GMAC bowl.

As far as recent 1A regulation games, San Jose St. beat Rice 70-63, just short of the record for all games: Arkansas vs. Kentucky 7OT game of 71-63. Outside of D1A, Division III North Park beat North Central, Illinois 104-32 on Oct. 12, 1968
