Highest Paid Former Buckeye?

UpNorthBuckeye

Hall of Fame
I was browsing NFL rosters, looking for signings, transactions, etc., and I noticed Nuge's salary is something like $1,380,000. Pretty cool, and he deserves it.

It got me wondering who the highest paid Buckeye might be right now?

I haven't started looking, but I'm thinking it might be Hawk? or Pace?

And I wondered who the highest paid ever might be, like maybe Robt. Smith made some giant bucks before he retired.

Of course, Oden's contract will be at the NBA rookie cap, and in a few years, if he does well, he will be making $25 mil a year, right?

I hope Troy Smith is re-signing in a few years for 10 or 12 mil a year, after being named MVP of the Super Bowl Champion Ravens!!

If you go by $$ per year (including base salary, signing bonus and other bonuses, etc.) then I would guess Clements as well for 2007. (and maybe overall contract as well)

For per year $$:

Last year LeCharles Bently was the 15th highest paid NFL player of 2006 at just over 12 million, again because of signing and other bonus $$.

2005 Orlando Pace was #3 highest paid player for that year at 18 million.

And Antoine Winfield was 9th and Shawn Springs 15th in 2004 @ 12 and a half million and 10.9 million respectively that season.

It's probably still Jack Nichlaus....
it's not the bear. heck, he nearly went bankrupt in the mid-80s. his company then went public in about 95 or so... only to have severe issues with accounting fraud, sec investigations, and even more debt. earlier, his company bought a car dealership in florida, which floundered and had to be sold. there is money in the licensing of his name, but it's not as much as many would think.

greg norman could buy and sell nicklaus many times over. seriously.

Didn't know that. Probably explains why Jack always looks like he's wearing shirts that he bought at KMart.
