You bred raptors?

I've never heard of this guy before, but Paul McCoy a RB from West Virginia broke the record for most rushing yards in a single game for all high schoolers. The previous record was held by Ronney Jenkins of Oxnard, CA. McCoy managed to put up 661 yards rushing and 10 TDs in a 64-0 win. He's averaging 364 yards a game and already has 1800 yards and 26 TDs.

Pretty insane stuff, anyone heard anything about this guy?

The extra-point kicker must not be quite as good as McCoy.

While this is certainly impressive, you gotta wonder about how much this guy played in the game. It says that he had 25 carries, but if he is still running for TDs in the 4th quarter in a blowout, you gotta kind of question the coach. but if he just went insane in the first half, and maybe a few possesions in the second, then i can maybe see that.

These records now a days are just so ridiculous that you have to commit a great player against a terrible team, for 4 quarters. I mean the guy who has the record for most TDs, has 12. No one is going to break that without the entire team working towards it.

I see there's conflicting reports on this performance. ESPN says it was 658 yards. And lists one of the TDs is of a different yardage than the other article did. They said he had 29 carries, the other article says 25 carries.

They also say this is likely not a national record.

DELBARTON, W.Va. -- Paul McCoy ran for 658 yards in a high school football game and, believe it or not, might not have set a national record with his feat.

The total tops the National Federation of State High School Association's listed record of 619 yards set by Ronney Jenkins of Oxnard, Calif., in 1995. But high school records historian Doug Huff said Saturday the recognized record is 739 yards by John Giannantonio of Netcong, N.J., in 1950, against Mountain Lakes.

McCoy piled up his yardage on just 29 carries -- an average of 22.7 yards per attempt -- and scored 10 touchdowns as Matewan beat Burch 64-0 on Friday. McCoy racked up 477 of his yards scoring on TD runs of runs, which covered 69, 1, 52, 56, 52, 20, 31, 84, 87 and 25 yards.

He also had a 77-yard TD run called back because of a penalty.

"The National Federation book for some reason does not include that [the 739 yards], and I think the reason is there's a formal process for submitting those things," Huff said Saturday. "This school doesn't exist anymore. The papers recognized it. The school had a special ceremony. It's been in my records for years."

McCoy did set a state record with his 658 yards, and his 10 TDs would tie him with two others for the second most nationally. The record is 12, set by Ken Pearson of Hugo, Colo., in 1930.

McCoy, averaging 345 yards per game, has 1,723 yards and 26 touchdowns this season.

I saw this kid play first hand when they played Weirton Maddona. He was unreal. He is not that big, or overly fast, but the patience he shows is crazy. Never falls on first contact, hits the seems hard and is gone.

What is more amazig is so far this year he has a had a 84, 77, 94, 92, and 76 yard runs called back.

Also for the record at least 2 games of his stats will not count because Matewan used an ineligible player. It was going to be 4 games but they apealed the decision.

I do not think he is a major D-1 athlete, but he is going to make some school very happy. Also he is doing all this a year after tearing his knee.

How about '08 RB Nathan Bame at Dola Hardin Northern? He had 1,000 yards and 16 TDs through their first 5 games. I know that is nothing like this kid, but still pretty impressive. He also put up 3,500 yards in his first two seasons and is on pace to finish his junior year with well over 2,000 yards...
