Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.

WATCH: High school center fielder sprints home to tag out runner in one of craziest baseball plays you'll see

Mark this down as the ol' '3B, 8U' on your scorecard

Normally when a center fielder makes a play at the plate, it involves nailing someone with a rocket of a throw. Well one Ohio high school center fielder used his legs, not his arm, to make a highlight-reel play on Friday.

In a varsity baseball game between Ft. Recovery and Marion Local, Mason Local center fielder Griffin Burns showed previously unseen levels of hustle on a baseball diamond. It all began when Ft. Recovery batter Caden Grisez hit a blooper into the outfield. The ball dropped between three Marion players, and Burns eventually scooped it up.

Normally, this would be a single. But, with the shortstop and second baseman both in shallow center field after unsuccessfully trying to catch the ball, nobody was covering second base, so Grisez kept running.

The bizarre play set off a chain reaction of uncovered bases (the third baseman went to cover second, leaving third base open; the catcher went to cover third base, leaving home plate open) and an eventual play at the plate that most baseball fans have almost certainly never seen before.

Burns kept the ball in his glove during the whole play, eventually sprinting home, laying out and tagging out Grisez at the plate. Take a look at the madness:

Didn't really see much of a HS Baseball Thread, so i'll just tag this here....

My son is a freshman this year, this marks the first time since Tball, so 9-10 years? that I wont be in the dugout coaching. I've never actually just "watched" him play a baseball game - I'm excited.

Swim (probably) ends on Friday so he'll be in the cage with the team on Monday - (he's still been working at home) - He plays pretty much anywhere you need him (last year he played all 9 positions for at least an inning each) - probably looking at 2nd or LF - his HS team is pretty skilled, so probably be a year or two before he sees varsity, but should get a bunch of playing time with the joes

always an exciting time of year but also bittersweet when you no longer are in the dugout together. My son graduated HS in 2018 and then pitched JUCO ball but the memories of being in the dugout with him still burn fresh. Luckliy I am getting to coach my girls in softball now. Good luck to your son!

It's definitely an adjustment.

Like @brodybuck21 says, those memories will stay fresh for a while.

Highschool tryouts were last week, there were 46 boys trying out for 30 roster spots between JV and Varsity - happy to say that my son made the team as a tweener - they expect him to play mostly JV but should get some varsity action this season and they expect him him to be varsity next season full time. I was shocked to see so many boys trying out, i think thats the most the school has ever seen. games start later this month, i can't wait!

Here's to good weather so he gets lots of games to play this season! That is something that is never an issue with high school swimming;-)

first year of HS ball ended for him Friday - played pretty well. He finished the year 1st in OBP, walks, and steals, 2nd in avg, 2nd in RBI's - really grew as a player quite a bit this season.

football mini camp in a few weeks, but now just morning lifting, nothing afterschool - going to be weird to have evenings back

congrats to your son!
