I've always liked them
I had to get to 100 to be allowed to stay home from school with a fever, something like 108 and you're serious trouble.

98.6F +/- 0.1 degree is the general norm. Once you hit 100, you can consider it a fever, but I wouldn't worry until you hit 102, at which time you need to take measures to keep it from getting any higher. If you hit 104, you need medical attention fast.

ive heard that normal temperatures actually vary from individual to individual and that 98.6 is just the average...
i know that my healthy temp is around 97.4.....

As long as your temperature is still a tunable FM radio station you can live, but if your temperature drops to NPR or spikes to alternative, I'd go see a doctor.
