Jaguars eyeing Clarett?
The Jaguars are doing their homework on running back Maurice Clarett, who is eligible for this year's NFL Draft but has not played organized football since 2002.
Clarett's former Ohio State teammate, defensive back Dustin Fox, told an Ohio newspaper that the Jaguars recently grilled Fox about Clarett during player interviews at the East-West Shrine Classic in San Francisco last month.
"The Jacksonville people wanted to know a lot about him,'' Fox told The Canton Repository.
Clarett has been out of football since leaving Ohio State after the 2002 season and declaring for the draft. His challenge of the NFL's rule on draft eligibility was denied, forcing him to sit out last year.
Clarett is eligible for this year's draft but recently pulled out of a skills competition in Miami, leading NFL scouts to wonder how good of physical shape he will be in at the annual scouting combine this month.
