Heisman Trophy winners of Ohio State

Being even-handed, both were excellent choices for that Heisman. The Heisman is not, and never has been scientific. In many years it is a "beauty contest"! And we all know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

This and often times the $$$$ schools spend on Heisman campaigns.
No wonder many now call it " the HYPESMAN award"

If it makes you feel any better, myself and many others on the board really wanted Suh to get the hardware
For a defensive player to even get the invite to New York was finally a step in the right direction for the Hypesman. There have been more defensive players who deserved that trophy then I can name. They need to award two Heismans-----one for offense and one for defense as they often times neglect the best player of a particular year simply because said player plays defense.

Eddie winning made up for Kieth Byars getting screwed over by Doug Flutie.

Frazier being passed over was later rectified by Tim Crouch getting one.

Just like baseball, it's all about the makeup calls. :wink2:

So, if Ingrim edges out TP this year, Braxton is a shoe-in?

Us in Huskernation are still trying to figure out how Eddie George won the heisman over Tommie Frazier.

Not trying to knock Eddie, but what happened in the bowl games that year kinda' acted as an exclamation point for us. Nebraska destroyed Florida and touchdown Tommie had a seventy five yard touchdown run breaking seven or eight tackles which will live in husker history forever. Meanwhile, how did Eddies bowl game work out?

I'm in the camp which thinks the Heisman should be awarded AFTER the bowl season, not before.

Eddie had 1927 rushing yards, 24 TDs and 44 catches for 399 yards, 1 TD.

Frazier had 1362 passing yards and 604 rushing yards, 17 passing TDs and 14 rushing TDs, so the yardage edge goes to Eddie, but the scoring edge goes to Tommie.

it WAS the closest ever race at the time, but Cooper being Cooper those last two games probably makes it harder for you to swallow. but maybe not harder than it is for the Buckeyes. instead of 1995 Ohio State going down as maybe the greatest team in history, we got Coopered, while you guys smashed the Gators and consistently get voted as one of, if not the best team of all time.

regardless, Eddie's season was stellar by any metric. and Orlando Pace came in third!
