Which coach is fired first?

I like how the safest coach on that list is Tressel.

Some other names that pop up on there who I think would make good candidates for some open spots are USF's Jim Leavitt, Wake's Jim Grobe and Navy's Paul Johnson.

They've all exceeded expectations at their schools, and are the right age for a move up to a bigger opening like Nebraska, AtM or Arkansas.

I don't see Leavitt leaving USF. He is going to be that program's Bobby Bowden.

He won't threaten the all-time-win record, but he will fill the role of the coach that made it a national power and spent his career there.

The folks here in Tallahassee are putting out a very creepy vibe of total resignation about this. They say they would be upset about USF diluting the recruiting pool further; but that the boat already sailed so long ago that there is nothing that can be done about it now. It is as if they have given up on ever getting back to where they once were.

Totally agree. He's at a great school, and living in a great area. He has the chance to become a living legend there...

These are great points from both of you. With the implosion of FSU and Miami, USF has the opportunity to really dominate south Florida recruiting for years to come. I think he'd be ill-advised to leave, my main reason for listing him is that he has done an unbelievable job building a program out of thin air, and even if he has no interest in going elsewhere, you have to take a shot. If I am an AD, he's at the top of my list as to who I'd want to talk to.

Bump -

If this were a vBet there would be a wailing and gnashing of teeth ...

On the same night you had

Franchione - submits his resignation to A&M, and also ....

Callahan - Fired by Osborne.

No matter the sequence of events that puts Callahan on the block as first fired.

Meanwhile Doba has one game to go - but is certainly the biggest lame duck out West.

Robinson - still there, still feeling lots of heat in the community.

Dave Wannstedt - also not being warmly received, but still there in Da Burg.

Mark Snyder's future seems less the topic in Huntington than the possibility of 3-10 as a finish.

Callahan is the winning selection in this poll.
