HC Ryan Day (National Champion)

Where did you get that number?

There is a difference between fans who are critical and expect results, especially the results of a rivalry game, and fans who go way way too far with death threats, emailing/IM'ing coaches/players, following family members around and are just completely miserable and unreasonable.

The crazy unabomber fringe in most big programs probably is a very small amount . Even in the NFL there are nutsos.

Day knows he has to beat TTUN. He doesn't have to be perfect, but he has to win that game every few years.

There are also just vocal fans, especially on social media who just spout out stupid stuff. Those fans are stupid, obnoxious and also harmless. They have unreasonable expectations, which are more of a result of JT and Urban having success against TTUN.

Bama fans are going absolutely ballistic right now. Deboer's leash is getting smaller.

Much of the criticism is coming Herbie, who is a little too close to the program to be making any statements.

Saban coached at OSU under Woody. He knows as well as anybody that winning the Game is a be all end all to alot of fans. What does he expect?

OSU does have more crazies than there should be, but more than any other top program, not so sure.
Those numbers were verified and vetted by Herbie himself.
Saban coached under Earle, and has been critical of OSU fans for their obsession with tcun.

Herbie verified the numbers? How would he do that? Honestly, I do not believe that.

Whichever coach Saban coached under doesn't matter. He knows the expectation that comes with the Game. He also knows TTUN are equally obsessed with OSU. I respect him, and also believe he has a bad take on this one.

I was a 16 year old kid and in the beginnings of the full bloom of youth and fandom when earl Bruce won The Game in 1987.

I was a 30 year old father when Jim Tressel went up north and won The Game 2001.

I saw all of two wins vs tsun in the meantime.

So when people act like it's no big deal, fuck them.
I didn't follow OSU football closely until around 2000 or so, so I just missed the pain of that Sparty loss. I have to imagine the '24 SCUM loss being up there though in terms of painful losses. The only reason it probably won't be numero uno is because it didn't fuck OSU out of a shot at the natty. Even if OSU rolls to a natty that shit is going to haunt me for the rest of my life.

Day needs to realize that a National Championship isn't a complete pardon but a stay of execution instead.
I've got a three-year rule. Win a natty and I STFU for three years. But yeah, even if they win this, the team's #3 on my list of favorite OSU natty teams that I've seen because of that utterly preventable and self-inflicted abomination in the GAME.

1-5 In no particular order:
1996 cheaters
2021 cheaters
2023 cheaters
2022 cheaters
2024 cheaters

Then, in 6th place, 1998 Sparty.
If Ohio State wins it all this year, I might move 2024 cheaters to #6, and 1998 Sparty to #5. But it still doesn't hurt as much as those other losses.

I'll never understand how people leave 1995 cheaters off these lists. Without 1995, I don't think 1996 happens, and maybe not 1997 or 1998 Sparty either.
