HC Ryan Day (National Champion)

Hard to give him anything higher than a C for his coaching staff hires as a whole
Agreed. First year was A+ but the Coombs hire was absolutely disastrous. I think the Knowles hire will prove to be a great one down the road since the defense played well for most of the year unlike when Coombs was here. Who I'm NOT sold on though is Tim Walton. Not sure if it's simply because we have six CBs on the roster but his room has not lived up to expectations all year.

The CBs have been dreadful. Have been mostly since 2019. I don't know if it's recruiting misses, coaching, or a mixture of both, but until that gets fixed, we're going to remain vulnerable to big plays regardless of how Knowles schemes.

Knowles fielded excellent defenses in the pass happy Big 12; that tells me the guy can coach so I'm inclined to give him a bit of a pass, but Walton/Eliano need to recruit and coach better. (I know the current mess in the secondary isn't due to their recruiting, but they need to get after it)

Day needs to spend some time in Miami in the off-season and learn McDaniels system. The ball handling by Tua has improved so much this season is incredible. Then the route trees Miami runs for Hill and Waddle are excellent. OSUs WRs should be able to dominate every bit as Miamis and they can still run the ball
I’d rather he spend it San Fran studying Shanny’s run game concepts.
I don’t want him spending even more time on his beloved passing schemes.
