HC Ryan Day (National Champion)

I seem to be in the minority, and I'm okay with that, but I'm not yet sold on Ryan Day as head coach at THE Ohio State University (his first head coach job).

Don't tell me about his conference record - a lot of coaches could beat the B1G with this talent. He talked about "hang 100" then got his ass whupped by Harbaugh. The Urban guys are gone, it's his team now. You can't just expect your OMG OFFENSE to beat everyone. That lesson was learned in Ann Arbor. Let's see how Coach Day responds.

That's fine but unlike Riley. Day seems to get that and has been at least trying to fix the D. He fixed it with Hafley and Madison then it broke it again when Hafley left. Now to see if he fixed it again or we are back to the end of the Meyer era. Where it might work on the B1G but won't win us championships

Okay with me, but some seem to have gathered a "thou shalt not question Ryan Day" mentality which doesn't compute with me. He's a first time head coach, handed a boat load of talent, so he's open to criticism when the Buckeyes fall short. He has no track record - Ohio State is his track record (which shouldn't be anyone's first HC job, but here we are) so he's going to be judged accordingly. Let's see how the Rose Bowl goes. Losing to TTUN then losing a bowl takes me back to the Cooper days.

Let's not go there, please. Beat Utah.

I'm still high on Day. I mean, he's lost 4 games in 3 years. The Clemson game was just one of those games where things don't go your way. Alabama was just better. Congrats to them. I never liked the Coombs hire in the first place but he showed a pretty drastic willingness to correct a mistake by firing a coordinator after game 2 of a season and then setting a new conference record for coordinator salary with the Knowles hiring. The defensive performance has been unacceptable the past 2 years (and it was under Urban several times too) but it seems like by all accounts Knowles should be able to get things under control. And Day's offense isn't really in question.
