HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

At some point you have to start winning the more even matched games though. Ohio State shouldn’t be keeping a coach just because he doesn’t lose to the Maryland and Rutgers of the world
To do that he needs to follow the Drinkwitz advice and focus on being the best HC he can be.

He’s a worse HC because he’s the play caller. He’s a worse play caller because he’s the HC.

It only shows up in the biggest games, but it shows up. Drop the ego and do what’s best for the team (which involves replacing Dennis with someone he will trust to run the offense with Hartline).

Unfortunately it seems like Day is a man who’s stuck in his ways. I have zero faith the changes that need to be made are all fulfilled

Spare us the platitudes and actually make some meaningful changes, Coach.
Part of the problem is that Day hasn’t been afraid to clean house and get rid of assistants, but he’s generally replaced them with guys that have been equally as bad or worse. Knowles was absolutely an upgrade but then he’s been handicapped by weak talent and numbers in the secondary and defensive line, and also can’t run the defense he wants with 4 down linemen. Day doesn’t have the network of assistant coaches that have worked their way up and he doesn’t develop or get the most out of the coaches he does have.

Also, Day’s staff has always been terrible with personnel decisions - playing time, substitutions, positions - and development. That speaks to the head man’s deficiencies.

Exactly my point.

I mean.....you and Jax are missing my overall point. Get on his ass for thinking WR screens or runs to the short side work. Or employing the worst positional coach in the game today. Or being an offensive genius but having the question of "what do you do when your QB gets hurt and they know you're running?" be answered by "run it anyways!!!" But we kicked their fucking asses so badly in 2019 that they faked COVID, ran and hid under their mommy's skirt, then were so desperate that they had to install a cheating scandal that might take down the entire program.......and y'all are grumpy bc he's probably not the guy so you're ignoring all that and going "1-3 born in third" like a bunch of fucking Michigan fans.

Use actual things that he sucks at, not this phoney Michigan record that we know should've been 2-0 before they started blatantly cheating. Tonight was even more evidence of how easy it is when you know what the other team is doing....don't discount that shit. I don't know what CJ does if they aren't cheating in 21, but there's no fucking world where they beat the guys who are dominating the NFL right now straight up in 22 without cheating. But some of y'all are so pissed that you're gonna pretend like they didn't cheat just to make a case that can be made without a fraudulent Michigan record?

and you are acting like those would have been automatic wins if they didn't cheat.

Look at Day's record in big games/against opponents with a pulse. What gives you this absolute certainty this big game choke artist would somehow not be his usual choking self? Just because tsun was cheating doesn't mean they didn't have a pulse.

The only impact cheating had on those Michigan games was margin of victory. Nothing Ryan Day has done here leads me to believe he wouldn’t have found ways to lose both of those game if they were played in fair conditions.

This

Ryan Day's chance of failure when opponent is good and cheating = 100%
Ryan Day's chance of failure when opponent is just simply good = 75-80%

Because he had the horses to not choke. He sure as shit didn't choke against Clemson. I said I wasn't as positive about 21, but 22 was definitely a win. CJ Stroud wouldn't have let them lose in a fair fight.

He's 1-3 in the CFP and 1-1 in NY6. That's a 33% win rate in similar scenarios

There is no such thing as a "definite" win against an opponent with a pulse while Ryan Day is the head coach.
