The last number I wore on any team was #19 in GB. Besides I had two numbers at OSU #22 (last Buckeye to wear this # in a game 1993) and #23 and couldn't choose both.

In Hayn's defense, the team that he was on was a mix of players with ties to Hawaii (UH, other colleges, and ex-high school). Not easy to coordinate practice schedules with work schedules, and guys from diverse backgrounds. I believe that the Japan team was one that had been together for a while. Ever travel thousands of miles to play a game at someone else's house? Not easy to do. Football in Japan is a growing sport, and the players from Japan have a ton of pride.
