ORLANDO - An Orlando parent said she was appalled when her 9-year-old daughter brought home her report card cover and it contained an advertisement for McDonald's promising free Happy Meals for good grades, attendance and behavior.
Her complaint prompted the Boston child advocacy group Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood to demand Wednesday that McDonald's immediately stop the report card advertising in the Seminole County School District.

everyone bitches that kids are fat, now we are giving them free MCD's for getting good grades, :shake:

Happy meals aren't the fucking problem. Kids going OUTSIDE to play, instead of watching tube/ playing gamestations is the problem. Parent's that are too busy to allow the children to participate in little league sports are the problem. I will add that parent's could also set an example. Occasional treats like fast food / ice cream/ sweets aren't all bad but setting the table most of the time with healthy balanced meals might be a good idea.

McDonald's paid $1,600 to print 27,000 jackets for elementary school report cards. Before that, Pizza Hut printed the covers for the past 10 years, she said.
The School Board will revisit the issue in the spring when it considers who will sponsor next year's covers, she said.

So.....how come no one complained about the Pizza Hut covers the last ten years? And why does a school district need a sponsor for report card covers in the first place, shouldn't that be something that is budgeted for? Heck, just don't have em, or stick em in envelopes purchased in bulk from CostCo!

If they say "CostCo" on the front, you might even get them to pay for the envelopes... oh wait... :wink2:

We used to get a "gold" card for good grades in HS that would get you 50% off at local fast food places like Taco Bell, Burger King and Dairy Queen... 50% at Taco Bell is an amazing thing, let me tell you. We used to O.D.

Not sure where I was going with this...
