Hamburg or hamburger?

Do people in Ohio really call it a "hamburg?" It is a hamburger to me, but I usually just say burger.

Hamburg is a port in northern Germany.

i'm in the 'burger crowd, but its called hambuger. i have some hick relatives that say hamburg

My sister-in-law always makes fun of Toledo because of this. At grocery stores, the buns are sometimes labeled 'hamburg buns' and at some restaurants, they're called 'hamburgs'. Must be a NW Ohio thing...

I live in what would be considered NW Ohio and I lived in Toledo for two years. That said I have never seen it labeled "hamburg" or heard anyone call it a "hamburg". Weird.

I grew up in NW Ohio and have heard "hamburg" used. Not much though.. Probably not any now!!!

I don't think I've ever heard it be called just a hamburg...

My redneck grandparents call it that -- I've never heard anyone else use that term.

The only place I've heard it called hamburg is Kewpee in Lima... their slogan is "Hamburg pickle on top, makes your heart go flippety flop"... lame slogan but great cheap burgers.
