Halo3 on PS3/SOCOM4 on 360?

I was told by a friend of mind, who usually is money when it comes to things like this, said that Halo 3 or 4 will be released onto the PS3 and SOCOM 4 or 5 will be on the 360. He said it has soemthing to do with game liscening and how games can only emain exclusive for so long. I never saw a mario or sega or sonic on nintendo though. Halo is made by Microsoft and Zipper Interactive just got bought by Sony. I dont think Halo will ever be on Sony and vice versa.. anyone know the answer?
 
your friend is wrong. Zero chance of this happening. I don't know that owning Zipper Interactive matters... I would imagine Microsoft owns the rights to Halo and chooses who they get to develop each game.

There are early reports that halo3 will be released at the same time as the PS3 console.

Halo3 is xbox3. You will see a bluray disc on an xbox before halo3 on ps3.

Yea, Halo is a the top selling for Xbox. Microsoft produces the game, as they make the Xbox system. Meaning if people wanna play Halo, they have to buy a Xbox if they do not already have one. Microsoft wouldn't give a share of their best selling game to Sony. Possibly in the end, having them sell less consoles.

It would make no sense.

Just like you will never see Final Fanatsy on Xbox.

What he is saying is that there are laws that you can only hold onto the liscnese of game for so long now. IE GTA moving to XBOX. Final Fantasy moving from Nintendo to Playstation. Didnt know if any copywrite law gurus were out there. I didnt think it was tue either.

GTA moving to xbox? I don't pretend to be an expert on that situation, but there was no xbox on the first few GTA releases. GTA stood to make a ton of money by developing their game for xbox as well. M$ stands to lose a truckload of money if they let Halo3 get away, especially for the appeal of the xbox360 console.

You can bet your house that M$ will pay whatever amount to make sure this is not even considered.

and as a follow up, Square Enix owns the Final Fantasy Games, Sony has no ownership rights. OTOH, Microsoft does have some ownership rights to the Halo series(I believe) along with the developers, Bungie. You'll never see a port of Halo on a PS anything, but you will and are going to see ports of FF games on the x360.

Halo is what made XBox what it is today. There is no way Microsoft will let Sony use the rights to that game. If you wanna play Halo yeh gotta buy an Xbox, if you wanna play FF yeh gotta buy a PS, that just how things will be.
