I have now played a while on the new patch. It has helped several key bugs. But... It has created a few new and excited bugs of its own! I'm to the point of laughing about it. I find matches, get in games, and spend less time searching. Theses are all great improvements from this time last week. Sadly one crazy new bug is the total game crashing if you back out of matchmaking while in a party. This last patch (12/3/14) seems to have improved things for me. Far from fixed but better than any point up to now.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection - Review
10:51
Note: To be eligible for most of the free content, you must be an "online user" who played Halo: The Master Chief Collection between launch date (November 11, 2014) and today, December 19. The exception is for the newly remastered Halo 2 map, which will be made available to everyone.
- Halo 3: ODST Campaign: The original Xbox 360 game campaign will be upgraded to run at 1080p and 60 FPS. Development on this "just started," but 343 says we can expect to see it in Spring 2015. It has no plans to include the co-op Firefight mode. The campaign will be delivered through a free download token, and you'll launch it through MCC.
- One month of Xbox Live Gold: This will be delivered as early as mid-January 2015. 343 will either apply one month of Gold directly to your account or send a redeemable token through the Xbox One message center.
- Exclusive In-Game Nameplate and Avatar: These will be delivered before 2015 in an upcoming content update. As a thank you to early adopters, they will not be available anywhere else.
- Remastered Halo 2 "Relic" Map: The re-imagined version of the Halo 2 map Relic will be available in Spring 2015 as part of a free update for all players in Halo 2 Anniversary.

Nope. From what I understand some of the major campaign bugs haven't been fixed either, so I have refrained from playing single-player. Granted, the multiplayer is now in a lot better shape than it was at launch and depending on the playlist can be played with little-to-no problems, the patch right before Christmas did wonders. It is a far cry from being at the level of 'complete' that it should have been at though and is still extremely frustrating. If you already bought it then I would say go ahead an install it and try it out. I wouldn't recommend anyone else buy it yet though, devs and pubs shouldn't be rewarded for rushing out broken buggy messes with promises to eventually patch them enough to get them halfway working.
