I'm on my cell phone now, and my coverage is a little spotty, so I'll post the link later. But I was listening to one of the Podcasts from the actual Microsoft people. This group worked for Microsoft but was not 343 studios. They talk to these guys behind-the-scenes all the time and one of the major things they discussed was the ranking system. It would seem that they are really trying hard to put in a 1-50 ranking system but exactly how it will work across all four games is the big question. Do you make a ranking system that unites all four games and reflects overall skill? Or do you make a separate ranking system that shows the skill in a particular game not necessarily your combined skill/rank of all four different games? So, they were suggesting and thinking that you might see a 1–50 rank system for each of the games although they are now on a United start menu and playlist. What this means for you and me is that you may get a 50 in one of the games but only be a 35 in another and that'll actually be reflected on your spartan.
Example: your Combat evolved top rank may be 48, your top rank for 3 and 4 show as 50, but your halo 2 rank may only be 32.
They were hoping that this might create a longer playable game because it'll give the people the incentive to get a 50 in each individual game and each individual playlist.
I really hope this is true!
